Bachelor in Biomedical Engineering: The design and contents of the Degree are structured so that when students have completed their studies, they are equipped with the necessary conceptual, manual and technical tools, as well as the skills required, to improve or develop new processes and industrial and sociomedical services in order to apply their knowledge to real medical problems; they will also have knowledge of the principal aspects of living beings and life sciences that will enable them to work in conjunction with their colleagues in biomedicine, not only in the tasks of solving the technical problems they are presented with, but also in the processes of identifying the actual problems, which is the only way that the technological solutions they produce will be of real utility.

The Bacherlor Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the UPM has a multicenter scope, involving 6 Departments Centers UPM (ETSI Telecommunications, ETSI Caminos CyP, ETSI Agronomists, ETSI Industriales, ETSI Informática, INEF). This multidisciplinary character is an essential element for the formation brings the best knowledge available at the UPM and through stable partnerships with other institutions, offers training of the highest quality and adequate to the existing and foreseeable demand professional.

Master and doctoral degree programs

Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering: The UPM Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering (IB) involves 62 research teachers from 19 Departments of eight UPM Centers. With a vision that breaks through the traditional multidisciplinary concept based on disjointed unions of knowledge and abilities from the different disciplines involved, opting for training capable of managing, in a creative way, the intense and ineluctable complexity of the field. In short, it is training not just to resolve problems but also to formulate these problems and handle the omnipresent complexity and ambiguity efficiently.

Master Biomedical

PhD in Biomedical Engineering: Scientific research, development and innovation on Biomedical Engineering are nowadays fundamental instruments within this panorama. It is from here that the growing need comes about for the training of researchers that apply the concepts and methods of engineering to the understanding, definition and resolution of problems in biology and medicine.

The general objective of this PhD Program is to provide the students the training and experience required to tackle successfully the research tasks of UPM on Life Sciences, to elaborate his/her PhD thesis and to initiate them in a life dedicated to scientific research.

The content offer has been structured, for reasons of organization and guidance of students, into four main profiles: bioinstrumentation and bioelectromagnetism; telemedicine and information systems; biomedical signal and image processing and biomaterials and biomechanics.

University Masters’ Degree in Telecommunication engineering in the bioingeneering specialization area: this program will enable the student to carry out the profession of a Telecommunications Engineer. Its objective is to train professionals for the sector of Information and Communication Technologies, characterized by its dynamism, globalization and economic and social importance, in which the demand for Telecommunications Engineers from the UPM is very high.

University Masters’ Degree in material engineering the Biological Materials and Biomaterials specialization area: Materials engineering is one of the pillars of modern society. It is an interdisciplinary field that includes the study of the structure, properties, processing and applications of all kinds of materials (metals, ceramics, polymers and biological).This Master offers an overall training in the state-of-the-art techniques for the characterization and analysis of materials and four elective itineraries on “structural materials”, “functional materials”, “biomaterials” and “materials for energy”.

Master Degree in Clinical Science: The Clinical Science Program is designed to meet the demand for further education of clinical researchers in academia and industry. This critical need for individuals who are able to conduct rigorous, credible and relevant patient-based research within stringent ethical and regulatory guidelines is expected to continue to grow as more research is done globally.

The CLSC-Global Program provides opportunities for acquiring new areas of knowledge and skills in clinical research to prepare clinicians for careers and opportunities in clinical and translational sciences.
