Ekranoplanos (Competition Over)
‘Ekranoplanos’ are gliders which, using the ground effect, glide at a low altitude over water. The objective of the competition is for the groups of contestants in the competition to increase their knowledge as regards this type of vehicle by designing and building small scale models of ‘ekranoplanos’ in light wood or expanded polystyrene. The costs of the models will be low since they lack both a propulsion and flight control system. The functioning of each prototype will be checked through trials of the scale models in the hydrodynamic tank at the School of Naval Engineering (ETSI Navales) using the towing system of the installation as the means of propulsion.
