Requirements and application procedure for accredited master's degree programs

Students should apply via the Helios platform and are eligible to apply for up to three different master's degree programs listed in order of preference.

 

a) Students and Graduates from Spanish universities
  1. DNI (Spanish national ID card), NIE (Foreigner ID Number for residents in Spain) or Passport.

  2. Curriculum Vitae.

  3. The academic documents to be submitted will depend on the student's choice of master's degree (the master of science degrees offering professional certification are listed in Appendix I: MSc in Aerospace Engeneering; MSc in Agro-Engineering; MSc in Civil Engineering; MSc in Architecture; MSc in Mining Engineering; MSc in Forestry Engineering; MSc in Industrial Engineering; MSc in Naval and Oceanic Engineering; MSc in Telecommunications Engeneering. Or any dual program with them).

  4. Additionally, each program may have specific access requirements.

  5. If you have completed your Bachelor's degree:

    1. Accredited degree certificate issued by Spanish university or proof of having applied for certificate.

    2. Transcript of records of your first degree, stating the subjects taken and grades attained. This document must be issued, stamped and signed by the academic authorities of the university of origin. 
      Invalid documents for academic purposes downloaded from web pages shall NOT be acceptable except for graduates from the UPM (Politécnica Virtual).

  6. If you do not have completed your Bachelor's degree (In no case can the Master's degree be obtained without having previously completed the Bachelor's degree)

    1. You can apply without having completed studies attaching a Student Pledge for Completion of Studies.

    2. Official Transcript of records of your degree stating the credits passed, the credits necessary for your Bachelor's degree, and it can be reliably verified that only the Final Degree Project (TFG) remains and a maximum of 9 credits to obtain the Bachelor's degree. 
      This document must be issued, stamped and signed by the academic authorities of the university of origin. Invalid documents for academic purposes downloaded from web pages shall NOT be acceptable except for students from the UPM (Politécnica Virtual).

      Those admitted students with conditional enrollment must meet the requirements of the Enrollment Regulations before October 15, sending the required document to tramitacion.master.oficial@upm.es. Otherwise, admission would be canceled.

  7. Students applying for an accredited master's degree listed in Appendix I are obliged to submit a Level B2 English language proficiency certificate, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

    If you are applying for the MSc in Teacher Training, the required accreditation is Level B1 in a foreign language.
 
b) Graduates of universities from European Higher Educacion Area (EHEA) countries
  1. Passport, DNI (Spanish national ID card) or NIE (Foreigner ID Number for residents in Spain).
    It is also valid the Identity Document for students from the European Union (EU).

  2. Curriculum Vitae.

  3. The academic documents to be submitted will depend on the country issuing the student's first university degree and the student's choice of master's degree (the master of science degrees offering professional certification are listed in Appendix I: MSc in Aerospace Engeneering; MSc in Agro-Engineering; MSc in Civil Engineering; MSc in Architecture; MSc in Mining Engineering; MSc in Forestry Engineering; MSc in Industrial Engineering; MSc in Naval and Oceanic Engineering; MSc in Telecommunications Engeneering. Or any dual program with them).

  4. Additionally, each program may have specific access requirements.

  5. Accredited degree certificate or proof of having applied for certificate. This document should be duly translated if issued in a language other than Spanish or English.

    You can apply without having completed studies attaching a Student Pledge for Completion of Studies. You must regularize your situation before September 9, 2022 sending all the required documentation (degree certificate, official transcript of records…) to tramitacion.master.oficial@upm.es. Otherwise, admission would be canceled.

    Note: Dates and requirements pending approval of the UPM's 2022/23 Enrollment Regulations (concerning conditional enrollment) pursuant to new Spanish legislation (Royal Decree 822/2021).

  6. Transcript of records of your first degree, stating the subjects taken and grades attained. This document should be duly translated if issued in a language other than Spanish or English. This document must be issued, stamped and signed by the academic authorities of the university of origin (documents not valid for academic purposes downloaded from web pages will NOT be acceptable).

  7. Students applying for any of the accredited master's degree listed in Appendix I:
     
    • Are obliged to submit a Level B2 English language proficiency certificate, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

      If you are applying for the MSc in Teacher Training, the required accreditation is Level B1 in a foreign language.

    • Students applying for any master of science degrees offering professional certification (MSc in Aerospace Engeneering; MSc in Agro-Engineering; MSc in Civil Engineering; MSc in Architecture; MSc in Mining Engineering; MSc in Forestry Engineering; MSc in Industrial Engineering; MSc in Naval and Oceanic Engineering; MSc in Telecommunications Engeneering. Or any dual program with them) ARE required to submit the resolution on the recognition of their first degree according to which they are elegible for the UPM master's degree program. This recognition is issued by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
 
c) Graduates from universities outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)
  1. Passport, DNI (Spanish national ID card) or NIE (Foreigner ID Number for residents in Spain).

  2. Curriculum Vitae.

  3. The academic documents to be submitted will depend on the country issuing the student's first university degree and the student's choice of master's degree (the master of science degrees offering professional certification are listed in Appendix I: MSc in Aerospace Engeneering; MSc in Agro-Engineering; MSc in Civil Engineering; MSc in Architecture; MSc in Mining Engineering; MSc in Forestry Engineering; MSc in Industrial Engineering; MSc in Naval and Oceanic Engineering; MSc in Telecommunications Engeneering. Or any dual program with them).

        If you are applying for the MSc in Teacher Training, the required accreditation is Level B1 in a foreign language.

      • Students applying for any master of science degrees offering professional certification (MSc in Aerospace Engeneering; MSc in Agro-Engineering; MSc in Civil Engineering; MSc in Architecture; MSc in Mining Engineering; MSc in Forestry Engineering; MSc in Industrial Engineering; MSc in Naval and Oceanic Engineering; MSc in Telecommunications Engeneering. Or any dual program with them) ARE required to submit the resolution on the recognition of their first degree according to which they are eligible for the UPM master's degree program.         If this is not the case, it's enough submit a duly legalized university degree certificate and transcript of records.
        Legalization is usually implemented through the Hague Apostille. Click here for a list of signatory countries. This procedure is carried out in the country issuing the degree certificate by the authorities responsible for certifying that it is a valid certificate issued by the competent authority.


    • If this is not the case: 
      • You ARE required to submit a duly legalized university degree certificate and transcript of records.

This procedure is carried out in the country issuing the degree certificate by the authorities responsible for certifying that it is a valid certificate issued by the competent authority.
