The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) will invest the architect Kenneth Frampton as doctor honoris causa at a ceremony attended by the rector, Guillermo Cisneros.
Frampton will receive the honorary doctorate on January, 27th, at the Paraninfo UPM .Prof. Alberto Campo Baeza, sponsor of the new doctor honoris causa, will give the laudatio.
It should be noted the firm defence Frampton have always made of Architecture and Spanish architects, especially among the youngest, being the director of many of their doctoral theses.
About K. Frampton
Kenneth Frampton is Ware Professor of Architecture at Columbia GSAPP, where he has taught since 1972. He has taught at a number of leading institutions in Europe, too.
Mr. Frampton was trained as an architect at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London and has worked as an architect and as an architectural historian and critic. He is the author of “Modern Architecture: A Critical History”, de 1980, where he already reconsidered the most important Spanish architects, “Studies in Tectonic”, de 1995, “Labour, Work and Architecture”, de 2002, or “A Genealogy of Modern Architecture”.
His work "Critical history of modern architecture" is an essential classic of academic bibliography.
