The demand of sport activities related to the use of the Spanish rivers has increased in the last years, so is the case of the Rafting. The objective of this presentation is to develop a method for the determination of the range of instream flows (minimum and optimal) that allow a rewarding practice of this sport, and being compatible with the functioning of the fluvial ecosystem, specially with its fish habitat requirements. We define and quantify the "Potential of Rafting" for a section of 600 m of the Lozoya river at different flow conditions. For such aim methodology IFIM was used, carrying out, first, a bidimensional simulation of the hydrodynamics and, in second term, a simulation of the habitat availability specifically to consider the "Potential of Rafting" with base in the corresponding developed curves of preference. We analyze the results obtained by these simulations for different flows and selecting the rank of suitable flows to practice the Rafting of the best possible way. Additionally the impact on fish habitat is analyzed for the implementation of these flows, by means of the study of the fluvial habitat available for an important native species Barbus bocagei, given the utility of this information for Potential the joint management "of Rafting" - "Potentially Usable Habitat". | |
