Abstract
Depending on the connectivity between the pores, the metallic foams can classify in closed-cell and open-cell foams. The majority of metallic foams in the market are closed-cell aluminium foams. However, for some applications are more appropriated the open-cell aluminium foams. In this work, we analyze the absorption coefficient measured in the impedance tube of open-cell aluminium foams fabricated by means the infiltration technique. These foams are characterized by a very homogeneous structure and by a high absorption coefficient at low frequencies when they are backed by an air gap.
