This paper develops a Multiregionallnput-Output Table {MRIOT) methodology built for Spanish regions to determine the impact on employment rate of charging Heavy Good Vehicles {HGVs). While broad research has been carried out on the methodology for estimating transport policy effects, only a minar part of this research evaluates the impact of charging HGVs on macroeconomic aggregates at regional level. lnput-Output tables have been widely employed in several macroeconomic analyses since the 1930s because of the interdependencies and relations involved between economic productive sectors. Besides the lnput-Output standard approach, MRIOT analysis emerged from the earliest land-use models involving spatial economy. Empirical results obtained from similar studies which evaluate new infrastructure construction have shown important macroeconomic effects at a regional level on various economic sectors by using the MRIOT approach. The definition of this approach is important, since employment rate is a key macroeconomic indicator of national and regional economic situation. | |
