Membership of physical activities and sports to the field of culture, as well as ways to transmit their identity and values that sustain, have maintained, from the classical world to our day, a constant theme based in theory and the essence of myth and mythical thinking. In this paper, after establishing clearly the concept of mythic thought and its relationship with physical activities, as formulated by the philosophers of the classical world, we test our theory by comparing the various deities of classical Greece and Azteca world to verify, as the mythical essence is independent of cultures and how, in both cases, the myth is built on physical or idealization of the same match, despite the vast distances in time and space. Established the identity and essence of the myths about sports and analyze their presence and value in the construction and destruction of existing sports mythical characters as a starting point for the solution to the crisis of sports and athletic movements contemporary.
