Datos
Descripción
During her stay, Ms. García del Toro developed an important aspect of her thesis in the region of Virginia besides a monitoring protocol for stream geomorphology that will be implemented in parks across the Northeast Region of the United States. Ms. García del Toro conducted an intensive review of literature on stream geomorphology, evaluating a variety of techniques for long-term monitoring, as well as developing a series of Standard Operating Procedures that will be used by NPS to implement the protocol. In addition, Ms. García del Toro collected field pilot data to evaluate the level of variability in the key metrics. This last component is essential in helping us to determine our power to detect change over time, and was made possible by Ms. García del Toro?s extensive background in statistics and engineering. The National Park Service is deeply indebted to Ms. García del Toro for her expertise and time which will prove invaluable in establishing this new monitoring protocol.
