| The use of Pendimethalin in Cereals can be an effective tool to control the weed Papaver. Its ban can induce some negative effects that it is important worth to analyse and evaluate. The project includes three work packages: a) A literature review about crop losses due to weeds, focusing on cereals? production and the weeds affecting cereal fields in Spain. This review will provide an overview of the scope, intensity and trends observed in weeds? infestation and ecology, focusing if possible in Spanish production areas. b) An evaluation of the short-run effects on cereal farms? productivity and profitability. In the short run, one of the main effects of weed infestation is decreasing of yields and the modification of risk profiles that farmers face, with negative effects in economic performance, profitability and incomes and in the probability of obtaining negative economic results. | |
