Abstract
1.The thin blanket performs better in terms of safety and structural viability. However, high enrichment operation is more expensive 2.None of both blanket options provide enough shielding to the Vacuum Vessel. A VV thickness greater than 20 cm is required to assure reweldability in the external surface after 40 years of irradiation. 3.The increase of the VV inner radius from 8 to 10 meters, and the introduction of a 20 cm graphite neutron reflector result in a VV thickness of 20 cm
