The aim of this project is the theoretical design and characterization of new advanced materials useful for the manufacture of high efficiency photovoltaic solar cells and with optoelectronic properties improved in comparison to the conventional semiconductor materials used today in the manufacture of devices for an efficient photovoltaic solar energy conversion. One of the aims of the project in which is based this proposal is the theoretical study of hybrid photovoltaic materials composed of porous ZnO and a light harvesting organic dye. In order to do that first we need to identify with ab-initio DFT calculations the most stable orientations for the incorporation of different organic dyes, to an inorganic semiconductor. This hybrid material will be used as photovoltaic material in a dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC). | |
