We introduce a simple dynamic model based on a modified preferential attachment rule for bipartite networks. Our model simulates the growth of a mutualistic network generating weighted interaction matrices that we compare with empirical data from several real biological networks. The resulting network shows a power-law degree distribution in both cases: plants and animals. Furthermore, the model reproduces accurately the nestedness behavior. In a different study concerning bipartite networks, we have proposed a new model modifying the classical logistic equation with additional terms to take into account interspecies interactions. | |
