The main objetive of this project is to develop a new theoretical method for the exact computation of tunneling rates in a system of two ultracold atoms. This method will provide a deeper insight into a quasi-one dimensional experiment recently performed in Heidelberg [G. Zurn, F. Serwane, T. Lompe, A. N. Wenz, M. G. Ries, J. E. Bohn, and J. Jochim, Phys. Rev. Lett. 108, 075303 (2012)]. Likewise, it will permit the study of tunneling with other experimental setups, using different atom species and/or geometries.
