Abstract
Intermediate band solar cells and materials have been claimed to have been implemented under different approaches such as quantum dots, highly mismatched materials and insertion of selected impurities. In this work we review these implementations making emphasis in the experimental results that have been reported for each of these approaches. The set of these measurements contains quantum efficiency results, measurements under concentrated light, electroluminescence, photoreflectance, two-photon illumination, etc. We give also guidance, to our best understanding, aiming towards the correct interpretation of some of these results and suggest others that could complete them.
