To carry out management and conservation projects it is necessary to count with ecological information about the former situation of the study area as well as a detailed knowledge of the environmental factors (biotic and abiotic) that promote and maintains diversity at different scales. For some time, it has been proved that environmental heterogeneity determines resource distribution, therefore, species composition and their abundance. The aim of this work was to make emphasis in the importance of characterizing the community of Pinus hartwegii in the river basin Magdalena in Mexico City, Mexico, in order to integrate the required information in the generation of an environmental diagnosis, since the protection of the woods of the basin is a priority in terms of conservation of biodiversity and in the maintaining of a good environmental quality mainly of the air in the city. | |
