Here we focus the attention in granular media involving many size particles, in such a way that may be supposed that all grain sizes under a certain size becomes potentially represented. The crucial influence of particle size distribution (PSD) on the random packing structure increase the interest in relating both, either theoretically or by computational methods. On one hand, the statistical similarity property for a grain distribution suggest the use of fractal models for PSD. On the other hand, a one-parameter model providing a robust simulation model is needed on order to relate such parameter with the porosity of random packings. Finally a consistent computational method is needed. This work includes both, theoretical and computational aspects, in order to study the dependence of a one- parameter fractal model previously established and the packing properties of simulated PSD | |
