Tungsten is proposed as first wall material in future fusion reactors due to its good refractory properties, low activation rate and low tritium retention ?However, helium implantation inside vacancy-like defects leads to formation of bubbles filled with He atoms and eventually to material exfoliation ?Trying to mitigate this effect, nanostructured tungsten is under research: helium can be retained in grain boundaries instead of inside pressurized vacancy defects in the interior of the grains | |
