Structural engineers, geotechnicians and arquitects are concerned by the fact that most of foundation failures in buildings located in the south of Madrid are due to expansive clay soils. When underpinning and reconstructing foundations, the highest hazard is posed by a clayed substratum recovered by low consolidated anthropic fillings, composed by heterogeneous materials. To avoid these failures new constructive procedures have been carried out in the south of Madrid, which constitutes an own building technique. Thanks to these procedures the required safety standards are fulfilled. | |
