Abstract
Geotextile-encapsulated sand elements are three-dimensional systems manufactured from geotextile materials filled with sand. They form a sub-group part of a wider system of geosynthetic solutions for erosion control which are known as Geosystems. There are three different types of elements, namely geotextile bags, geotextile tubes and geotextile containers. These elements are used in coastal engineering structures such as groins and breakwaters as an alternative to rubble mound quarry stone e.g. as core material
