Multifunctional ceramic systems have attracted great interest in recent years prominent among these materials with ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties (multiferroics). One of the ways to achieve the coexistence of the properties is to mix both phases. Most extensively studied systems are ferrites Co (CoFe2O4) or Ni (NiFe2O4) with PZT and BaTiO3. In this work is developed a porous ferroelectric matrix and then fill the pores with the magnetic phase. As ferroelectric material we consider the KNN-NTS (K, Na, Li) (Nb, Ta, Sb) O3 because it is a lead-free ferroelectric material. The generation and control of the porous matrix is achieved by controlling the temperature and sintering time. As ferromagnetic material we choose the cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4). The filling of the pores of the KNN-based ferroelectric phase take place by impregnation with the ferromagnetic phase (CoFe2O4).The porosity of the KNN-NTS was measured by mercury porosimetry. The porous KNN-NTS lead free piezoelectric matrix, the magnetic phase CoFe2O4 and the impregnated samples are, structural and microstructural characterized by XRD, SEM, Raman and AFM. Hysteresis loops and d33 piezoelectric coefficient are measured for porous KNN-NTS and impregnated samples and magnetic loops were measured for CoFe2O4 and impregnated samples. | |
