The Ecuador is defined by four geographic regions (Costa, Sierra, Oriente and the Galapagos) and five different climatic zones (Warm?Dry, Warm?Humid, Valley, Mild and Glacial). The aim of the study presented is to analyse the influence of these climatic zones in the construction systems commonly used as well as the comfort needs that these must cover. Therefore, for each of the climatic zones, representative cities have been identified and the corresponding climate data collected in order to develop climograms to analyse the particular comfort conditions of each case and define the most appropriate architectural strategies for bioclimatic design. On the other hand, a study of the ?Popular? and ?Colonial? architecture of each climatic zone, the procedures used for passive conditioning systems and building technologies has been conducted, taking into account that the research has focused on residential buildings. In this communication, the case study of Guayaquil (Warm?Dry climate) is presented. | |
