The model or framework based on network description is used to design , configure and manage the network. Several languages for network description are created in order to describe the information about the network. Nevertheless, there is no one used to particularly describe the information of honeynet. In this paper, a technology independent honeynet description language (TIHDL) is proposed to resolve this issue. First of all, honeynet has some extra features besides those for normal network. Thus, the requirements of honeynet description are studied in this paper. Subsequently, CIM (Common Information Model) is found that it can match the basic requirements of honeynet description from those existing description languages which are surveyed in this paper. Thus, a CIM like technology independent honeynet description language is presented. Consequently, based on TIHDL core, a honeynet request, configuration and management language schema is proposed. This language is used in a flexible virtual honeynet generation tool (HoneyGen). In HoneyGen, the technology independent honeynet description language is interpreted into various configurations of honeypot deployment tools so that this approach can comprise a combination of heterogeneous technologies and platforms. | |
