Descripción
Activities conducted under the Ecotourism rules are known as ?ecotourism products?. Contrary to what one might think, ecotourism products are not based only on observation or enjoyment of nature. Although these are precisely the activities that play a major role and generate large amounts of money, contributing to the economic development of areas where tourism is developed (always from the point of view of sustainability) Birdwatching and Whale Watching are the most popular activities and generate greater revenue to both the local population and the tour operators. However, there is another different movement that is included within ecotourism products: the slow movement. This movement is closely linked to gastronomic tourism, where come into play terms like "eco-gastronomy", "slow food" or "restaurants km0". In this category prevails the use of organic products, without intermediaries, and the preservation of cultural heritage. Slow Cities or Slow Fish are terms also linked to this interesting movement, and that can be included within the concept of Slow Tourism More and more products are derived from ecotourism. However, these activities can be very harmful to nature if conducted in an unsustainable way. That is why numerous manuals of good practice have been developed. Compliance with the standards of conduct implies a correct development of ecotourism, and a viable development alternative towards the conservation of nature. In this module some of ecotourism products will be developed, whose economic or cultural significance, or its singularity, are worth being studied. It is intended that students develop a global view of the importance of ecotourism activities. In addition it is intended that the student sparks your concern for research and learning about this interesting topic. The main competences provided by this module give the opportunity to apply different ecotourism products in the management of sustainable and ecological tourism.
