This article opens a debate on those tangential and external factors that floating around the architectural discipline have always affected ?and altered? the original plans of the architect but that have also become in certain occasions, powerful catalysts of the creative process. The Villette Park by Bernard Tschumi will be taken as a case study, being aware that its famous grid of folies (key component of a triple structure of points, lines and surfaces) displays a strong formal logic and an undeniable consistency in disciplinary terms. This research proposes a renewed reading of the folie-grid as a design mechanism, from the point of view of its ability to move beyond the limits of the discipline, reading it as a transversal strategy that given the role of the external contingencies that inevitably surround the architectural project, hopes to establish a dynamic dialogue with them without distorting its conceptual and formal coherence | |
