| The value of the pervivance of urbanistic architectonic character is mainly determined by the adecuate choice of its meaning. The new use purposed must preserve its own original essence. The genius loci and the historical meaning are the keypoints that let us understand the way to approach the rebuilding project. The Agustinas Recoletas? cloister, in Segovia, is one in two convents in the popular architecture which endures in the new city environment. We can read, through it, to the ancient lifestyles and traditional construction methods. The research is founded on an accurate survey of the whole building, seeking for the geometrical and constructive reasons, in order to choose the best solutions for understanding the special relationships. We made a construction analysis, and we tried and proposed the lightest intervention route. Finally, we?ve shown a possible new use of the mentioned unused parts of the existing old cloister. | |
