The bulk YbAl2 alloy has been subject of comprehensive studies because it interesting properties associated to the intermediate valence behavior. In the present work the effects of the mechanical milling on the structural, magnetic, thermal and electronic properties of this alloy are reported. The XANES spectra shows an increase of the Yb2+ contribution associated to the size reduction, and specifically to the atoms sitting at the surface of the nanoparticles. | |
