Solar energy, in one form or another, is the source of nearly all energy on the Earth. Moreover, it is the most plentiful and almost inexhaustible. Photovoltaics (PV), as a technology that directly converts sun light into electricity, is a promising approach to solve the steadily increasing world electricity demand. As the third generation PV technology, Concentrator photovoltaics (CPV) is one of the most promising technologies to reduce the cost of solar electricity. Using multijunction solar cells (MJSC) with the highest conversion efficiency and operating at high or ultra-high concentration are the typical strategies to reduce the cost in CPV, and both of them are highly related to the series resistance of the solar cell. Since the front grid of MJSC deeply impacts its series resistance, optimum semiconductor-metal contacts that provide highly conductive metallization are a must. | |
