| Some researchers argue that the extension of the global financial crisis that began in 2008 prepares for bankruptcy, not of companies or organizations, but of entire countries, which is estimated to represent a contingency of catastrophic dimensions. The various market agents have responsibility for those disturbances created by the inefficient management of financial risks, so it is inconvenient to place responsibility only on regulatory bodies such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision at the Bank for International Settlements (BCBS- BIS) as this institution only issues management suggestions. In this context, this paper analyzes the environment in the first place that came into effect in the Basel Accord III and the comments from experts on why previous agreements failed to reduce the effects of the various international financial schisms. Moreover, although the events of financial risks are widely disseminated so far in the 21st century, it is considered that the stakeholders of the various organizations are unaware of the specific characteristics of the various financial risks, including the so-called operational risks (OpR) which are considered largely responsible for market instability. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to establish their differences and characteristics, in order to assist in the understanding of these OpR and their efficient management. Finally, a summary of the status of implementation of the agreements of Basel III in relation to the OpR and the possible effects on international markets in the coming years due to its late entry into force or its nonimplementation, as well as some suggestions issued by the BCBSBIS that could work to mitigate the effects of the OpR is presented. | |
