In this work, a short-term electric load forecasting method is developed, us-ing as an explanatory variable the temperature forecasts from an external agent. A regression-spline model has been designed to implement the rela-tionship between temperature and energy demand. The proposed method is general and can be implemented in any real-time electricity energy system. To check the method's performance, a real data set from the Spanish elec-tricity market has been used and the developed algorithm has been tested employing the MSE as the performance metric. Results denote that the forecasting method is both accurate and computationally efficient. | |
