The invention relates to genetically modified plants of the Solanum genus comprising a lignin composition with a particular ratio of the amounts of the monolignols sinapyl alcohol (S) / coniferyl alcohol (G) in the cell wall, that allow a better glucose extractability without compromising plant integrity. The invention also relates to parts, cells and manufactured plant products derived from these genetically modified plants. Particular methods for obtaining the genetically modified plants, including the down-regulation of CCR1 and CAD2 enzymes, are also disclosed, as well as methods for producing bioethanol from said genetically modified plants. | |
