We report changes of magnetic properties of the heavy-fermion YbNi2 crystalline alloy when submitted to high-energy ball milling. Due to milling process, the ferromagnetic transition at TC =10.4 K in bulk alloy practically disappears and an upturn ongoing to lower temperatures indicates the existence of a magnetic transition at T*= 3.2 K in the nanometric sample. The Orbach-Aminov spin-lattice relaxation processes with the involvement of the first excited crystalline electric field level of Yb3+ at 75 K dominate the electron spin dynamics in the paramagnetic phase of the bulk. For T < TC, a comparative study of the temperature dependent magnetic properties and electron spin resonance parameters of nano and bulk samples shows a shift of the electron spin resonance field positions strongly towards high fields related to the magnetic inhomogeneity of the alloy induced by the milling process. | |
