Abstract
In this work we have used a combination of in situ reflectance to study structural modifications in silica by ion irradiation (Br ions with energies ranging from 5 to 40 MeV) and a methodology based on Molecular Dynamics (MD) and Finite Element Methods (FEM) to simulate its mechanical response to swift heavy ions.
