Abstract
Research will be conducted in order to establish the feasibility for a technique based on a non-invasive, portable, optical device to obtain white blood cell counts. In particular, the focus of this study will consist in evaluating the ability of our technology to distinguish between patients with healthy counts (>1,500 per uL) from immunosuppressed patients (<500 per uL). To this end, the team has previously acquired anonymized clinical data from hospital patients. These data consists on microscopy videos showing the microcirculation of blood cells through microcapillaries placed under the finger nailfold.
