The brick as a constructive material is of vital importance; the incorporation of this, as a light material, would contribute significantly to reduce the structural load of the buildings. In the present study has been used Ecuador?sraw material, with availability; in combination of aggregates: diatomaceous earths (zone of Santa Elena (MD2)) and clays (zone of Ceibopamba (MCB)), for the manufacture of bricks, whose objective is to lighten their weight, counting on the raw material that provides these qualities. The characterization of the raw material (analysis: physico-chemical and mineralogical), was of great help. The ceramics, resulting from the combinations selected as optimal, were subjected to different temperatures (550°C, 750°Cand 950°C), obtaining the optimization factor, by means of the diametric compression test; the results show that sintering occurs at 950° C, in a ratio of 60% (MCB) / 40% (MD2) + 2% sawdust (organic corrector), validating its microstructure using SEM microscopy. The properties of the obtained brick, denote a reduction of the weight of a 17.85% (3.59kg), against the conventional of 4.37kg (weight), the resistance to compression was 9.20MPa, qualifying it as suitable for use in construction | |
