Abstract
In this thesis, major improvements on a bacterial colony simulator, gro, are presented. These improvements include a new specification language, a nutrient consumption simulator, a environmental signal module, a physics engine and a gene expression module. Also, and using these new additions, novel synthetic designs are simulated and studied.
