The concept of software quality refers to the act of developing software that fully meets user requirements, is error free and works properly. A range of different techniques and methods has been conceived, mainly for the conventional procedure- and data-based paradigms, with the aim of achieving this goal. Over recent decades, object-oriented (OO) technology has become one of the most important software development paradigms. However, the mere use of object-oriented techniques does not assure good software quality. This paper introduces a new software quality model for OO, based on externally defined quality factors, internal quality criteria and a set of OO measures linked to the criteria and devised for OO developments. Issues raised by the object-oriented paradigm and the shortcomings detected in the existing quality models led us to define an up-to-date quality model that can be used to estimate the quality of OO software | |
