The most important advantage of voltage dividers over traditional voltage transformers is that voltage dividers do not have an iron core with non-linear hysteresis characteristics. Voltage dividers have linear behavior with respect to both overvoltages and a wide frequency range from DC to high frequency. The weak point of voltage divider is the influence of external high voltage and high currents in its vicinity. The fields arising from high voltages and high currents in neighboring phases and ground conductors are one of its main sources for systematic measurement errors. This paper describes a shielding voltage divider for medium voltage network of 24 kV insulated in SF6 composed by two resistive-capacitive dividers integrated one inside the other, which achieves a flat frequency response up to 5 kHz. The metallic shielding improves its immunity against electric fields. The metrological characterization performed permits to use the voltage sensor in 24 kV grids with an accuracy class of 0.2 and low temperature effect for operation conditions of MV power grids. | |
