Descripción
One of the most interesting aspects of the architecture at present time, consists in the ability to make visible the invisible. We are not just talking about uncovering intangible aspects affecting the humans? habitat, but also to determine the dynamics that have an impact on that space to prevent or anticipate events that could motivate an intervention on it. With the help of Big Data, it is becoming increasingly each time to access the parameters that allow us making these predictions. Likewise, the architects needed to find new communicating strategies and new ways of approaching the projects. During the process of definition of an intervention, a visual record is developed a visual record to contribute to the architectural thinking. Simultaneously, there is also a record of a range of actions that work as a time capsule, throwing past, present and future information, from the operating areas. The development of such graphic documents, will enable the addressing of large-scale projects, which go beyond the parameters of a traditional planning to deal with projects of recovery of devastated areas, recovery of natural environments or urban interventions in which it is impossible to perform with the traditional construction tools. Architects must be capable of solving problems, but on top of that, they must be able to detect them, a task that is often more complex than it might seem. Throughout this investigation we have focused on projects that address controversial aspects of the current landscape, with a singular graphic, focusing on social, economic and ecological aspects of large areas with a natural, rural or urban condition. We will analyze projects such as Perry Kulper?s proposal for the competition of the recovery of the environment of the David's Island, (1999), or the ambitious proposal of Corner and McNeal in Taking Measures Across the American Landscape (2000). Other projects address interventions on urban centers with a proposal that sought the citizens? cooperation, as did the architect Petra Kempf in You are the city (2009). Some others generate a great social impact, such as those developed by Mathur and da Cunha in Mississippi Floods: Designing a Shifting Landscape (2001), or SOAK: Mumbai in an Estuary (2009), a project emerged from the devastating floods suffered in Mumbai. All these examples, combine in their graphics the ability to verify the dynamics that motivate an intervention on the ground.
