| Technological advances are changing the personnel recruitment process. The arrival of inexpensive video recording devices combined with the success of online video platforms has enabled the proliferation of new formats of CV, such as a video resume. A video resume can be defined as a short video recorded message where job applicants present themselves to potential employers, providing a unique chance for new university graduates to highlight their most important skills and personality traits and giving them an edge over other applicants. Despite the increasing presence of video resumes in the labour market, they still constitute an emerging phenomenon. Related work on video resumes is scarce and has focused mainly on their reception by recruiters. Little is known about the competences students need when designing a video-based resume or the level of students¿ preparation for its implementation. Following these premises, we have designed and implemented an activity consisting in recording and evaluating of video resumes with a group of 76 Computer Engineering students from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain. The results of the study show that more training is necessary for students to offer a positive professional image of themselves. | |
