Mobile broadcast transmissions were proposed as a solution to save bandwidth when the same content, for example, a multimedia content, needs to be sent to multiple receivers at the same time. Even if mobile broadcasting has been proven as an efficient way to distribute data, mobile network operators have not widely deployed this solution in a commercial way because of the lack of a clear business model. Virtualization allows reducing costs, a barrier to entry, due to network equipment is built from general purpose hardware, which is cheaper. Costs also will be reduced thanks to the easy of management provided by virtualization. So this paper proposes to re-architect mobile broadcast services based on the network softwarization process that is guiding us to the 5G networks definition. | |
