Civil engineering works represent a key end user of the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) archives. The great amount of SAR data collected over the last 30 years allows the generation of historical deformation maps for target areas of interest. A concept proof of the potential of historical deformation maps is presented using the Madrid urban area as a testing environment. For this purpose, 4 different C-band SAR datasets from ERS, Envisat and Sentinel-1 and 1 X-band dataset, COSMO Sky-Med, are used in this work covering 25 years. The data of the considered SAR datasets have been processed with different Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) algorithms. The outputs have been combined over a grid buffering the contributions of the different PSI in the area obtaining a historical deformation map which has been validated with GNSS measurements. | |
