Datos
Descripción
Consulting firms are considered to be part of Knowledge-Intensive Business Services (KIBS) where expert knowledge plays a crucial input in the service provision. The purpose of this study is to improve the understanding about how consulting firms strategically manage the innovation processes and what capabilities and dimensions they focus on to deliver innovation, based on the interaction among main actors from an internal and external perspective. Consulting firms tend to simplify reality by trying to control one single linear innovation process, but several innovation processes are running at the same time. Results show that these views are not mutually exclusive; on the contrary, many of them coexist into the other along the lifecycle of the firm and its particular business circumstances. The challenge for innovation in consulting companies lies in the balance between generating incremental change by exploiting current knowledge and creating radical innovations by exploring new ideas as well.
