"The Cloud chapter in FI-WARE comprises a set of Generic Enablers that, combined together, provide: ? Advanced Infrastructure-as-a-Service capabilities covering provisioning and management of different physical and virtual resources such as server, block storage, network, and object storage; ? Management of application blueprints, supporting complex topologies of inter-related IaaS resources and allowing for customized configuration of individual software components; ? Support for resource and workload management across multiple clouds (e.g. FI-Lab nodes provided by XIFI project), including scenarios such as migration and disaster recovery. ? Moreover, the following differentiating features will make the proposed framework rather unique: ? Mature IaaS solution based on state-of-the-art developments of the OpenStack ([openstack]) community, supporting efficient management of large-scale deployments. ? Holistic support for IaaS environments comprising heterogeneous hardware (e.g., designed to optimally host certain classes of workloads, either virtualized or bare-metal) and/or management policies. ? Support for simplified and optimized management of infrastructure-aware applications, dynamically driving allocation, optimization and elasticity of resources, across compute, storage and network. ? Support for seamless federation of resources across multiple clouds, enabling workload mobility and disaster recovery capabilities. ? Holistic management of application blueprints, comprising complex topologies of inter-related resources. ? Library of blueprints supporting provisioning and life cycle of specific workloads of high relevance for FI-PPP. ? Holistic Web UI for the cloud user." | |
