Abstract
The fabrication of microchannels by laser direct writing with different pulse durations in the IR over soda-lime glass is presented. Similar dimension structures are manufactured with nanosecond, picosecond and femtosecond laser systems. Importance of tin impurities, only present in one side of the soda-lime glass, is studied. It is shown that they play a key role in the ablation process and that they are crucial for obtaining a high quality microchannel.
