The aim of this work is to approach the full design of ananti-roll tank through numerical simulation, looking for the wayto minimize the computational cost. The results have been val-idated with experiments from a rectangular tank, a tank with aC-shaped section and a rectangular tank with baffles. These testswere performed for 3 and 6 degrees of roll, and for differentlevels of water inside. The Open Source Computational FluidDynamics (CFD) tool OpenFOAM has been used to carry outthe simulations and to validate the numerical model. We haveworked in 3D testing different turbulence models (laminar, k-?, k-?, k-?SST) and different boundary conditions (fixed val-ues or slip). Convergence analyses of different meshes have alsobeen performed. After filtering the outcomes, it is shown thatthe model k-?SST with slip boundary estimation is the mostreliable model | |
