This project is aimed to cover the visually impaired people need regarding their first visit to a new environment and increase their autonomy. Nowadays, the idea of a visually impaired person going on his own to a new place is unfeasible due to self-security lack. The main purpose of this project is to develop a guidance system for visually impaired people so they familiarize with a new environment relying only on technology without the need of any external support (besides the blind cane). The objective is to guide the user by the means of previously recorded waypoints creating a recognizable path by computational means in order to guide the user accordingly. Regarding technologies used in the project, Unity will be the base SDK to develop an Augmented Reality solution. The tests will be conducted in a smartphone platform with accelerometer, gyroscope and camera. | |
