Workers are exposed to huge noise levels produced by the machines they use and almost always these noises cause them annoyance. The parameter that better characterizes a noise is its acoustics power, but is also has some lacks, as its scale is not completely similar to the human hearing response. For that, a concept to evaluate the quality of an emitted similar to the human hearing response. For that, a concept to evaluate the quality of an emitted noise, that is, its sound quality, is necessary. We will understand sound quality as the suitability of the sound emitted by a machine depending on the characteristics of that sound and the perceptual sensation received that reflects the degree of acceptance of the machine by the user. Sound quality, through the perception of the emitted noise by a machine, gives "subjective" information about the correct function of the product and may help to create a better sound environment in the working place so that the workers can be more confortable. The way of working with sound quality requires binaural recordings of the emitted sounds to be analysed to determine the objective psychoacoustics parameters, and then, to make subjective test and some surveys about the impression made by that particular sound to be answered by a representative number of people. | |
