| In this work, an analysis was performed to determine the internal loss factor of plasterboard, for use in comparative studies of sound insulation of light walls using materials locally manufactured in Chile. Damping measurements were made on different samples of plaster plates. For a typical panel, of thickness 12 mm and density 760 Kg/m3, the Loss Factor (LF) was measured to analyse the decay of the energy when the plates were struck with a hammer. The model dependence on frequency obtained was LF = 0.4171 f^(-0,4477), with R2 = 0.96, for frequencies in the range 125 Hz to 2KHz. | |
