Descripción
This paper presents a new software, called IAHRIS (Índices de Alteración Hidrológica en Rios, - Indicators of Hydrologic alteration in rivers) to evaluate hydrological alteration caused by flow stream regulation (for example, dam construction, flow derivations, etc…). The reference methodology of this software has been showed in “Flow regime: guidance on stablishing reference conditions and evaluation of hydrological alteration” written by the same authors and presented at 4th ECCR too. ¿What are the system requirements? IAHRIS software will run under Windows 2007, 2003. ¿How does IAHRIS work? IAHRIS software uses daily o/and monthly data for its calculations, both in natural and altered regime. The length of record necessary to obtain reliable results may be more than fifteen years. Natural an altered regimen data series can be referred to the same period of years or no. ¿What are the IAHRIS outputs? Outputs from IAHRIS are available in Excel format as tables and graphs. IAHRIS presents these results:  a natural flow analysis in the most relevant ecologycal aspects by 19 parameters. Usual values are characterized by 4 parameters, floods by 8 parameters and droughts by7 parameters  an altered regimen analysis similar than natural flow analysis  an evaluation of hydrological alteration by 21 indicators grouped by this way: 6 indicators for usual values, 8 indicators for floods and 7 indicator for droughts. This quantitative assessment can be resumed into 3 global indicators  And a qualitative assessment of hydrological alteration following the Water Framework Directive recommendations.
